polish (Paper Mache) ~ Sally Beauty Supply nail tape

This is my first time experimenting with any type of nail design myself, so I am thrilled to be able to create this tutorial in collaboration with Sally Beauty Supply.  I visited the store last week to search through the 750 shades of nail polish that Sally Beauty Supply carries and the experience was a lot of fun!  I ended up picking up a beautiful blue and silver polish from O.P.I and a white polish from the FingerPaints line, which is exclusive to Sally Beauty Supply.  Light blue and white always give me spring vibes, and the silver polish added the perfect touch of metallic.  With the cold weather that we’re experiencing here in North Carolina, I needed a little spring inspiration with these gorgeous colors that I picked up to create my tutorial.  I was quite pleased with my results, and I loved how the design came out.  I hope you enjoy the look too!

Here is how I created my Striped Nails:

1. Prep and paint.  Apply two coats of polish to clean nails.

2. Apply the nail tape. You can create the striped design on the nails of your choice in any direction that you desire.

3. Polish the sections in-between the tape with your desired nail colors.  Try your best to only paint inside the lines of the tape.

4. Pull off the tape and clean up any imperfections with polish. Let your polish dry completely before you remove the tape. If you do not let your nails dry completely the nail polish will smudge once you lift the tape.  I learned this the hard way twice!  Make sure that there is no space between your nails and the tape so that your design will have clean lines.  You can also add a clear topcoat of polish to finish the look.

Let me know your thoughts on my tutorial, and if you create one yourself please tweet me with your designs!

this actually looks fairly easy! I’m terrible at just painting my nails regularly so designs kind of scare me but this looks beginner friendly so I may give it a try.
