Deciding to wear my hair in its natural state has been a joyous journey, but there have been many frustrating moments.  I am always on the hunt to find products that will work well with my kinky type 4 hair texture.  This is why I am so excited to share this post with you on some new products that I tried recently from Motions Hair Care.  I am going to explain my entire wash routine and my thoughts about the new and improved Motions Hair Care line.  I also recorded a youtube video with snippets of me using the line, and I am excited to share which of the products that I love the best with you today! Let’s get right into the steps in my wash routine.

Step 1: Motions Pre-wash Detangling Butter

What can I say, hands down this is my absolute favorite product from this line.  My hair is very coily and tangles no matter what I do, so to use a product that completely removed my tangles and knots was quite a surprise.  The moisturizing properties of this product makes combing natural hair less of a nightmare.  The only con is I used about half of the jar, but that will not stop me from purchasing this product because this stuff is beyond amazing.

Step 2: Motions Moisturizing Cleanser

I do not like to use shampoo a lot because it can be very drying to my hair, but this one is moisturizing because of the shea butter and avocado/coconut oils.  This product meets the mark for shampoos that will not make your tresses brittle and hard.

Step 3: Motions Smoothing Conditioner

This conditioner worked well with my hair texture and my hair did not feel rough or hard after I washed out the product.  In fact, my hair felt quite soft and manageable.

Step 4: Motions Nourishing Leave-in Conditioner

I prefer to use leave-in conditioners that have a little more slip, but this leave-in will get the job done.  I always use a leave-in conditioner before styling my hair.  I find that it adds moisture and helps to prevent breakage.

Step 5: Motions Define My Curls Cream

I do not do wet twistouts ever, but this time I knew that I was getting crotchet braids installed two days later, so I decided to do a wet twistout. My hair came out soft and defined, so I am excited to find ways to use this product in the future.

Step 6: Motions Nourish & Care Stimulating Scalp Balm

This product is infused with ginseng and spearmint and provides relief dry and itchy scalp.  I have a very dry scalp, so I liked treating my issue with this product and it smells delightful.

Step 7: Motions Naturally You Radiating Hair Gloss

The last step was to release my twists and prep my hair with a little of the Motions gloss to give my hair a little sheen.  A lot of type 4 hair textures have tresses that look dull at times.  This product worked well by giving my hair a bit of shine so that it didn’t look so dull or dry.

Watch my YouTube video below, where I show you how I use each product!  Have you tried any products from Motions Hair Care?  What are your thoughts?
