As teachers head back into the classroom after a blissful summer, I thought it would be a great idea to start a new series on my blog for women with professional jobs. Each week I will be doing a “Teacher Style” post that will feature a particular brand or styling tip. I am so excited to be kicking off this series in collaboration with Talbots to showcase some amazing styles for the new school year. As a working professional, Talbots offers classic modern styles that I absolutely love! It is so important to look amazing in the workplace because the classroom is your runway. The stress of teaching can cause you to neglect your wardrobe, but I plan to have a lot of fun with my style this year and I hope you do too.
How To Maximize Your Wardrobe
The theme of this week’s post is all about how to get the most wear out of your wardrobe this school year. I like to purchase quality functional clothing for work that I can wear in a variety of environments. The three must-have pieces that I would suggest are a crisp white shirt, a pencil skirt, and a work handbag!
The Printed Skirt
Pretty prints are the new wave in professional dress. There was a time when we just stuck to the basics in the office. Nowadays prints are acceptable in the workplace. You don’t have to be afraid to wear your prints more than once because there are so many unique ways to style them. In pretty shades of purple and blue, this floral print pencil skirt can be dressed up or down.
The Work Handbag
Teachers tend to carry a lot of papers home sometimes. I love a bag that I can stick some folders and my tablet in. With a leather-laced chain and chic quilted surface, this versatile textured tote is the perfect purse for professional outings and social functions.
The Classic White Shirt
A crisp white shirt is a closet staple that will take you from day to night. As soon as I tried on Talbots’ new wrinkle-resistant fabric basic button-down blouse I fell in love. I hate ironing and this shirt makes that process so easy. You can pair this closet essential with all of your trousers, midi skirts, and jeans on the weekend!.
The Sweater Blazer
It still may be too hot in some parts of the country to start wearing blazers, but the sweater blazer is a versatile transitional piece that goes seamlessly from summer into fall. I love the comfort and stretch that this blazer offers. A black blazer is another closet essential that you can wear from the classroom out to dinner.
I will be back with another “Teacher Style” post later this week, so join my email list so that you don’t miss it!
