Booties – Get them on Flexpay!

Tunic Top – I’m wearing a 1X. It also comes in regular sizes.

Belt – This belt comes in a 2-pack and includes the colors black and brown.

I’m all about having items in my wardrobe that I can wear over and over again!  This Avon Tunic Top was the perfect item for me to remix for you today.  I wore it this weekend to an African American Festival and again with a belt today.   Dusters are one of my must-have items because they make any basic outfit look fantastic.  My new Vince Camuto booties are my fav right now!  They were a great find and I have to thank my mom (the HSN Queen) for recommending that I purchase them. They are everything that I was looking for in a fall bootiecomfortable and cute!  Have you remixed an outfit lately?

I’m back for another Teacher Style post! This week I’m giving you a treat with two posts! (Yeah!)  In collaboration with Talbots, I’m back again to showcase some of the styles that I will be rocking in the classroom this fall. Today is all about how to create a classic, yet modern look.  Those of us that work in the professional world understand that over-the-top fashion may not be appropriate for certain work environments.  I love to have fun with my style, but I also want to look appropriate.  You don’t have to feel boxed in with your workwear. (You can still have fun!)  Here are a few tips on how to add a little flair to your style in the workplace:

  • Grab some fun ballet flats.  These leopard-print flats are comfortable and super stylish.
  • As the weather gets cooler rock your vests.  Vests are the perfect way to add a modern touch to your work outfit. Words cannot describe how fabulous this shawl-collar coat is, and it’s reversible!  I will be wearing it all season.
  • Add classic elements to your outfit so that you don’t over do it.  I’m wearing a classic white shirt and straight-leg pants, but I can have fun with my accessories by adding jewelry, handbags, and belts—which gives your look personality.  Have fun with it!

I hope you enjoyed my Teacher Style series this week!  I will be back next week for another edition!

Maximizing Your Wardrobe With Talbots

IMG_1597 (1)

As teachers head back into the classroom after a blissful summer, I thought it would be a great idea to start a new series on my blog for women with professional jobs.  Each week I will be doing a “Teacher Style” post that will feature a particular brand or styling tip.  I am so excited to be kicking off this series in collaboration with Talbots to showcase some amazing styles for the new school year.  As a working professional, Talbots offers classic modern styles that I absolutely love!  It is so important to look amazing in the workplace because the classroom is your runway.  The stress of teaching can cause you to neglect your wardrobe, but I plan to have a lot of fun with my style this year and I hope you do too.

How To Maximize Your Wardrobe

The theme of this week’s post is all about how to get the most wear out of your wardrobe this school year.  I like to purchase quality functional clothing for work that I can wear in a variety of environments.  The three must-have pieces that I would suggest are a crisp white shirt, a pencil skirt, and a work handbag!

Roses Pencil Skirt

The Printed Skirt

Pretty prints are the new wave in professional dress.  There was a time when we just stuck to the basics in the office.  Nowadays prints are acceptable in the workplace.  You don’t have to be afraid to wear your prints more than once because there are so many unique ways to style them.  In pretty shades of purple and blue, this floral print pencil skirt can be dressed up or down.

Quilted Leather Tote bag & Eri Suede Pumps

The Work Handbag

Teachers tend to carry a lot of papers home sometimes.  I love a bag that I can stick some folders and my tablet in.  With a leather-laced chain and chic quilted surface, this versatile textured tote is the perfect purse for professional outings and social functions.

The Perfect Long-Sleeve Shirt

The Classic White Shirt

A crisp white shirt is a closet staple that will take you from day to night.  As soon as I tried on Talbots’ new wrinkle-resistant fabric basic button-down blouse I fell in love.  I hate ironing and this shirt makes that process so easy.  You can pair this closet essential with all of your trousers, midi skirts, and jeans on the weekend!.

Sweater Blazer

The Sweater Blazer

It still may be too hot in some parts of the country to start wearing blazers, but the sweater blazer is a versatile transitional piece that goes seamlessly from summer into fall.  I love the comfort and stretch that this blazer offers.  A black blazer is another closet essential that you can wear from the classroom out to dinner.

I will be back with another “Teacher Style” post later this week, so join my email list so that you don’t miss it!

Grab Your Sarongs Girls!

We all know that summer is officially sarong and swimsuit season!  Sarongs are the perfect way to enhance your swimsuit looks and make them even more fashionable.  Sarongs are very versatile and you can wear them as skirts, tops, and dresses. The options are endless, and I had a lot of fun styling my sarongs from 1 World Sarongs.  It can be difficult to find sarongs to fit curvy and plus size bodies, but 1 World Sarongs has a variety of sarongs in stylish prints, colors, and sizes.  These are the ultimate classic pieces to use as cover-ups and as fashion accessories!  Today, I’m showcasing three ways that I plan to rock my sarongs this summer, and I’m giving away a sarong for you to style too.  Yeah!!!

Blue Tie-Dye Sarong

Who doesn’t love a maxi skirt!  I love how you can wear a sarong in multiple ways.  This is definitely a diverse way to build your summer wardrobe.  Tie the sarong around your waist into a knot to create a chic maxi.

Shein Dress – Get it HERE

With everything that is going on in the country right now, I am so happy to take a break from all of the turmoil and tragedy and get back to blogging.  This may be a difficult time for many of us, but the most important thing is to remain positive, be active in your communities, and to keep praying for change and for the families that have lost their loved ones to these senseless tragedies.  I still have hope!

Today’s post is all about why you need a wrap dress in your life!

Why you may ask:

  • Wrap dresses are universally flattering on every body type!  They hug your curves in the right places and are very slenderizing.
  • You can wear them everywhere! Wrap dresses are appropriate for every occasion from a day in the park to a wedding.  This an item that you will get a lot of use from in your everyday life because you can dress them up and down.
  • They are easy to style and you can pair them with sandals, heels, and your favorite cardigans and boots during the fall/winter.
  • Wrap dresses accommodate fluctuating weight issues.  I know that my weight has a tendency to go up and down, but I never have to worry about not fitting my wrap dresses.  They will always fit.

So go forth and find your perfect wrap dress!
